The attractions in the Huasteca Potosina seem endless. On this occasion, we look to the southeast of the region, to find the small town of Ahuacatitla, which is part of the municipality of Axtla de Terrazas. This town houses unique places that you can not miss during your tour of the Huasteca Potosina.
How to get there?
From Ciudad Valles, take Highway 85 south. At the height of Jalpilla, turn left on Hidalgo Nte street and follow the signs. You will arrive to Ahuacatitla in less than ten minutes.
From Huejutla you will arrive by highway 102, which then joins the 85. Continue north to Jalpilla, where you must turn right on Hidalgo Nte street and continue in that direction for ten minutes.
The health castle of Ahuacatitla
The main attraction of this town is the huge and colorful building known as the “Castle of Health”. The picturesque building stands out among the landscape, predominantly green. It was built by Beto Ramón, a naturist healer who dedicated his life to the study, cultivation and use of plants for healing purposes
Beto Ramón was a representative of the Nahua native people who achieved an important reputation as a herbologist and healer, attracting “patients” from all over Mexico, the rest of Latin America, and even the United States and Europe. The healer, born and raised in the community of Ahuacatitla, ordered the construction of the palace in which he had all the services
In the place there is even a temple known as “Church of the Lord of Health.” The walls contain beautiful and colorful murals worthy of being photographed. There is a curious sculpture, representing the “Yoloxochitil” tree decorated with flowers on its branches. Guided tours of the place include the tour through the huge garden or herbalist in which more than 400 species of healing herbs are grown. In the castle you can buy natural products such as tisanes and herbal supplements to treat all kinds of ailments, for its part, the town has different establishments such as shops, restaurants and bars to have a good time.

The Tamancillo River
This water course crosses the municipality by one of its sides. Together with the Castillo de la Salud, it stands as one of the main attractions for those who make tourism in the Huasteca Potosina. There are places especially for tourism, with tables to stop a moment before or after swimming in the river waters.
The hanging bridges
The bridges connect the different coasts on the Axtla river, which offers a beautiful environment to swim and take advantage of a family picnic.
